Centurion Fragment

Terra cotta 27" x 11" x 6" Limited Edition of 250

The human "shell," outward appearance, or the external form merely distinguishes us from others. Deep inside each of us is the moral fiber of who we really are. Hall’s visual representations of the body works metaphorically and methodically to explore the masculine and feminine form.

Urban mans struggle in an industrialized society is realized in these architectural figure fragments. In a struggle for freedom they are bound by brick and mortar.

The original is sculpted in clay. Then a mold is made and textured layers of clay are pressed into the mold. The figure shape is the same but the texture and fragmentation on each piece is one of a kind.  I consider them multiple originals within an edition.
